The U.S Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is the primary sponsor of the Solar Decathlon.

Teams

This page lists the teams for the 2009 and 2007 Solar Decathlons.

Twenty teams have been selected to compete in the 2009 Solar Decathlon. The teams selected for the competition will be awarded $100,000 over two years to support the Solar Decathlon's research goal of reducing the cost of solar-powered homes and advancing solar technology.

The Solar Decathlon is an international collegiate competition. Student teams compete to design, build, and operate highly energy-efficient, completely solar-powered houses that incorporate building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). For the students, the next Solar Decathlon takes place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in the fall of 2009. The exact date of the event will be finalized either late in 2008 or early in 2009.
